BBC’s piece on HR a pack of lies: ISPR

ISLAMABAD: ISPR has termed the BBC story, titled Uncovering Pakistan’s Secret Human Rights Abuses, published yesterday as a pack of lies.

ISPR maintains that the piece is a violation of journalistic ethos. According to details story carries conjecturing implicating Pakistan Army sans proof.  Since ISPR has only received a ‘judgmental’ questionnaire via email, it held that angling, spinning, and credibility of the story was thus exposed.

ISPR held that contrary to the expression in the published piece, operation in  North Waziristan as per the given date of the so-called incident (in the report) had not yet commenced.

“The writer surely lacked knowledge of the environment, ground situation, the geography of the area and about the conduct of operations. The story remains ill intended, biased and part of a larger agenda. It also amounts to undermine Pakistan’s efforts for fighting the global menace of terrorism and Pakistan’s unparalleled achievements in the war against terrorism contributing to regional peace. The people of Pakistan are well aware of the fake news phenomenon of all types and design behind such undertakings,” ISPR noted.
