ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf in his message on the 70th birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto has reiterated that she was the first elected woman PM of the Islamic world.

Speaker Pervez Ashraf maintained that Benazir Bhutto struggled for the rights of downtrodden and attempted to take forward the mission of her father whose politics was meant to give Pakistan a democratic system and a society based on equality.

He said that Benazir Bhutto strived to promote harmony between the federating units and promote the supremacy of constitution. Pervez Ashraf noted that Benazir Bhutto, who avoided imposition of ideas, advocated tolerance and dialogue, tried to get the country rid of terrorism.
