Bendable Cameras

MEHWISH

COLUMBIA:  Usually people assume that bendable technology is basically developed for the phones and tablets. They believe that will prevent the gadgets from breaking if dropped but the scientists are closer to develop such cameras too.

Flexible lens array – a bendable camera lens – has been developed by a team of researchers at Columbia University.

The array is a sheet of lenses that can retain their ability to capture pictures even if they are twisted or bent.

“If you could spread camera out like a paper or cloth, with similar material properties as fabric or paper so you could wrap it around objects, like a car or pole”. Says Professor Shree Nayar at University of Columbia.
