Bilawal, Imran shocked over Nice attack

ISLAMABAD: Chairmen of top political parties have expressed shock and anguish over the barbaric terrorist attack on Bastille Day celebrations in Nice, France on Thursday night which killed 82 innocent people.

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed the attack ‘monstrous’.

“There are no words to describe our anguish, shock and mourning over this inhuman and monstrous attack on the people in Nice. Our thoughts and prayers go out for the victims, their families and the people of France,” said the PPP Chairman in a statement.

“Such terrorist attacks remind the world of the need to unite to eliminate terrorism from its roots including the elements who breed, nourish and sponsor terrorism keeping in mind that extremism and terrorism are the evil products of dictatorships in different forms and manifestations,” he added.

On the other side, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan also condemned the Nice attack and expressed deep concerns over the spread of terrorism globally.

In a statement issued by the PTI media cell, the PTI chairman regretted the loss of lives in France and stated that the murder of innocent and unarmed civilians could not be tolerated at any cost.

“The international community must make a factual and honest analysis regarding the causes for such incidents of terror,” said Khan.

The PTI Chairman also expressed fear and concerns for the growing threat of terrorism globally.

On Thursday, at least 82 people were killed and dozens were injured when an attacker drove a truck at high speed into crowds watching Bastille Day fireworks in the French Riviera city of Nice.
