Bird Flu claims lives of 53 Big Cats in S. Vietnam

S. VIETNAM: H5N1 Bird Flu claimed lives of 53 Big Cats at My Quynh Safari Park in Long An Province and the Vuon Xoai Zoo in Dong Nai, near Ho Chi Minh City during August and September, 2024.

According to Education for Nature Vietnam at the end of 2023 the country had a population of 385 tigers: 310 living at 16 privately owned farms and 75 in state-owned facilities.

WHO reported that for the last two years deadly influenza viruses had been claiming lives of big cats.
