Blast near police check post in Peshawar kills 8

PESHAWAR: At least eight people have reportedly been killed and 39 others injured in an explosion near a check post in Peshawar’s Karkhano Market, adjacent to Jamrud in Khyber Agency on Tuesday.

“Casualties are feared to rise,” officials of Hayatabad Medical Complex told media.

Further, a hospital source said a child and four security officials are among the dead.

Security officials said a suicide bomber blew himself up outside Khasadar Force check post on Jamrud Road on outskirts of Peshawar, a gateway to tribal areas.

The target, Jamrud Khasadar Line officer Nawab Shah was also killed in the attack, political sources confirmed.

Aaj TV journalist Mehboob Shah Afridi was also killed in the blast, sources said.

Bomb disposal squad collected evidences from the scene as security forces kicked off a search operation in the area.
