KARACHI: The stock exchange remained inactive today and ended on a negative note, with the benchmark KSE-100 index losing 1,810.76 points.
Volumes surged for the second day in a row and the bourse closed at 48,780.81 points.
Rs. 23.6 billion worth of 197.1 million shares were traded during today’s session. Of the companies that traded, stocks of 7 remained stagnant, 343 declined and 38 gained in value.
Today’s volumes were led by commercial banking stocks. The top five leaders were:
K-Electric Ltd 46.74m shares (-5.19pc)
Bank of Punjab, 27.6m shares (-15.44pc)
Power Cement (R), 23.72m shares (-14.58pc)
United BankXD: 15.87m shares traded [-4.78pc]
Engro Polymer: 12.56m shares traded [-2.48pc].
