RAWALPINDI: British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew on Friday called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif (COAS) at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest including defence cooperation and regional security came under discussion during the meeting.
Army Chief said a terror-free and peaceful Pakistan is the ultimate aim of Pakistan Army.
On the occasion, Mr Drew appreciated Pakistan Army’s achievements and sacrifices for peace and stability in the region. He also appreciated the professional skills of the troops and expressed complete satisfaction over the pace of the ongoing operation in the country.
Earlier on Thursday, COAS General Raheel Sharif reiterated his resolve to root out terrorism and extremism from the country.
“No military of the world is able to synergise effects as much as Pakistan Army could do single-handedly. Rightly proud of commanding dynamic and resolute force,” ISPR quoted Army Chief as saying.
“Dilating on the effects of operation Zarb-e-Azb, he explained how we had transited from hardcore kinetic operations to intelligence based operations and now combing operations.”
“More work to do to achieve final objective of fully peaceful and prosperous Pakistan,” the army chief said, according to ISPR.
