British MP Imran Hussain urges for securing peace between India and Pakistan!

LONDON: Barrister Imran Hussain (MP and Shadow Law Minister) while speaking at the British Parliament held that as a permanent member of UNSC UK had a clear responsibility for securing peace in Kashmir and between India and Pakistan.

“The escalating violence between India and Pakistan is deeply worrying and I am gravely concerned about the very serious threats that are posed by any further escalation in violence. The international community must make every effort to de-escalate the situation immediately.

“At the heart of this conflict between India and Pakistan is the issue of Kashmir, a region home to people who have already seen too many wars and too much conflict, and who suffer every day from brutal human rights abuses at the hands of the Indian Security Forces.

“The status of Kashmir and its people must be secured and guaranteed, and I am clear that the only solution is through diplomatic and peaceful negotiations, never through violence.

“As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and with ethical, moral and historical ties to the region, the UK has a clear responsibility for securing peace in Kashmir and between India and Pakistan, and today in Parliament I urged the Foreign Office Minister to move away from gesture politics, and towards fulfilling our international obligations by actively supporting the birthright of the sons and daughters of Kashmir to self-determination.”
