Celebrated TV/stage comedian Ismail Tara is no more

KARACHI: Celebrated comedian Ismail Tara, who was put on ventilator a day earlier in a medical facility here when his kidneys failed, expired on Thursday (24th of Nov 2022) at the age of 73.

Though his claim to fame was critical TV comedy serial 50-50, Ismail Tara’s performance in movies Haathi Mera Saathi, Aakhri Mujra, Munda Bigra Jaye, Chief Sahib, Deewarein etc will also be remembered by performing art aficionados for a long time.

During his carrier Ismail Tara’s dexterity was acknowledged by means of a number of accolades including five Nigar Awards.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressing deep sorrow and grief over his death, maintained that Ismail Tara had transformed the art of comedy with a unique style.

President Dr. Arif Alvi held that Ismail Tara’s performance brought smiles onto the faces of innumerable TV viewers.
