KARACHI: Though PTI-led incumbent coalition government in the center tried to keep it a hush hush affair by making Alvi promulgate an ordinance facilitating Centre to take control of Sindh’s two islands, Bundal and Buddo, along the Karachi coast, keeping Parliament out of the loop, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday (equating the move with the illegal annexation of India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019) vowed to resist the move.
It is pertinent to mention here that two weeks after promulgating The Pakistan Islands Development Authority (PIDA) Ordinance, 2020, Alvi discussed the matter of Bundal Island development with Malik Riaz, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib and other entrepreneurs.
The Sindh Govt. – claiming that the islands belongs to the people and the Govt. of Sindh – has asked the Fed. Govt. to immediately withdraw the ordinance promulgated to take their control. At a Presser held here today representatives of the provincial Govt. informed that Sindh Cabinet had also decided not to hold any further discussion with the Centre regarding the development of the islands.
