CHILAS: Despite government’s endeavours to pacify the protesters, thousands of slogan-chanting Diamer-Bhasha Dam affectees continued their dharna here for the 9th consecutive day on 25th Feb 2025, saying that the sit-in would continue till their 31 demands were fulfilled.
Their key demands are:
1) Eighty per cent royalty of Diamer Dam for Gilgit-Baltistan;
2) Thirty per cent royalty of Dassu Dam for Gilgit-Baltistan;
3) Free Electricity to Diamer district;
4) Discounted rate of Electricity for GB from Diamer Dam;
5) Compensation for 18,000 acres acquired for the dam;
6) Commercial and Residential Plots;
7) Education;
8) Health;
10) Sewerage Projects;
11) Quota for grade 1 to 16 jobs;
12) Regularisation of contract employees.
The US$8.5 Diamer-Bhasha Dam would effect thousands of citoyens.
