KARACHI: Instead of holding pencils in their tiny hands these little children devein shrimps in a processing unit to earn less than a couple of hundred rupees.

Along with their mothers and other relatives they converge at one such sweatshop at dockyard. Workers are supposed to devein a 2kg basket full of freshly caught shrimps. They are served one meal and a meager wage of Rs. 100  to  150/- per day.

The shrimps  from Arabian Sea is thus value-added to be exported further,  filling the coffers of exploiters. They became rich, in the first place, taking advantage of the predicament of such poor of the poorest.
