China assured to support Pak narrative on Kashmir in UNSC: FM

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has informed journalists here today that China had assured to support Pakistan’s narrative on Kashmir issue in the UNSC. 

FM said during his timely meeting with his counterpart he informed the Chinese leadership about Pakistan’s intention to take up the Kashmir  issue to the UNSC.  “China has directed its representative in New York to keep close liaison with Pakistani diplomats over the issue.  Moreover, the two countries have deputed their focal persons at their respective foreign offices,” FM told. 

FM told that China – that recognized Occupied Jammu & Kashmir as a conflicting issue posing enormous threat to regional peace – has clear stance that Indian unilateral move were not only illegal but also the international law’s norms. “Beijing wants resolution of the issue according to the UN Resolutions,” Shah Mehmood Qureshi added. He said contrary to the endeavors of India, International Community knew that Kashmir’s issue was not a domestic matter.  

FM predicted that despite days-long curfew India would resort to intensify human rights violations. He noted that after the 5-days of curfew populace is facing a shortage of food and medicine in IoK. Maintaining that war was not the solution to the Kashmir issue, FM warned that in case of any misadventure from India, Pakistan was ready to retaliate. It is pertinent to mention here that PM, who is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly, will highlight the Kashmir issue there.
