(VIDEO AND TEXT) Chinese national who received bullets in a target attack in Karachi died

KARACHI: The 46-year-old Chinese National Chen Zhu who was critically injured here today in Clifton area by unidentified target killer(s) had succumbed to injuries at JPMC.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Chinese Government had informed its citizens last December about possible terror attacks on them in Pakistan.

Though Police had provided them security the (non-CPEC) Cosco Shipping Lines’ General Manager Chen Zhu and his associate Ye Fan opted to leave the office unescorted to eat at a Chinese restaurant situated in Block-2 of Clifton.

After the lunch they even went to buy fruits from roadside vendors near Zamzama Park. As soon as they stationed their white Honda they were shot at ten times by unidentified miscreant(s) who utilized a (yet unused) 9mm pistol.

Zhu, who lived at Lalazar Drive near the Cosco office located on the Beach Luxury Hotel Road, headed the company here for two years.

PS: When Pakistan, believing if American Multi-Nationals pulled their input out of Pakistan’s economy it would collapse, it said yes to Beijing’s offer to invest $57b on CPEC. However, many (including inhabitants of Baluchistan) are not happy with ever-increasing presence of Chinese on their soil.
