CM Murad Ali Shah presents Rs. 3T Sindh budget

KARACHI: CM Syed Murad Ali Shah, while presenting Sindh budget here on Friday (14th June, 2024) has suggested increase of salaries by 22-30 percent.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sindh Cabinet had accorded approval of Rs. 3.056 trillion budget for FY2024-25. The current revenue expenditure for the FY 2024-25 has been proposed at Rs. 1.912 trillion, which is 33.5% higher than the budget estimates of the FY 2023-24.

Budget for education has been proposed at Rs. 454 billion for FY 2024-25, against Rs.334 billion of FY 2023-2424. Sindh Govt has allocated Rs. 34 billion for universities. The budget of Rs. 7.5 billion (against last year’s Rs. 3.5 billion) will be used to provide free text books to pre-primary to matric govt school pupils. Sindh Govt has proposed a budget of Rs. 300 billion for health sector ( last year it was Rs. 227 billion).

An amount of Rs. 172 billion will be used for the security and Policing. Rs. 7.62 billion has been allocated for transport and communication. Rs. 35 billion has been earmarked for irrigation and Rs. 30 billion for agriculture. While salaries have also been augmented 22 to 30 percent (and pensions 15%), from next fiscal year the minimum salary will be Rs. 37,000/-

A day earlier, Govt of Punjab presented Rs. 5.45 trillion budget for the FY 2024-25 and suggested augmentation of govt. employees salaries (20 to 25%) as well as pensions (15%).
