Sindh CM orders construction of Kandhkot-Ghotki bridge on River Indus

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered the authorities to construct a bridge on River Indus to connect Kandhkot with Ghotki districts.

According to a press release issued here by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) media cell, while presiding over a meeting on road sector today (Monday) at New Sindh Secretariat, Sindh CM said the project would be launched on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode but it should be started from November.

“The chief minister said that there was a huge traffic pressure, particularly of heavy goods transport at Kandhkot to and fro Punjab. Therefore, there is dire need to construct a bridge on River Indus to connect Kandhkot with Ghotki,” read the statement.

The proposed bridge would be two kilometers long connecting Kandhkot with Ghotki. There would a 10-kilometer approaching road from Ghotki and 13 kilometers from Kandhkot.

Sindh CM also directed the Works & Services Department to repair Link Road between National Highway and Super Highway, Karachi.

The meeting was attended by P&D Minister Mir Hazar Khan Bajarani, Minister for Works & Services Imdad Pitafi, Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, ACS (Dev) Mohammad Waseem, Chief Engineer Highways Prem Talreja and others.
