‘Come and play’: India assures full security to Pakistan during World T20

NEW DELHI: Pakistan Cricket Board was happy on Friday when the Indian government showed ‘green signal’ to provide full security to Pakistan cricket team in World Cup Twenty20.

Inviting Pakistan team to play, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured foolproof security to Pakistan cricket team.

“Anyone coming to India will be provided security. There is no doubt about it,” said India media quoting Singh.

A written statement was also sent to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of the Indian state of West Bengal, assuring foolproof security to Pakistan’s cricket teams.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said that Pakistan team will not go India unless Indian government comes up with a public assurance to provide fool-proof security to the team.

A Hindu hard-line group has been opposing presence of the Pakistan team in World T20. The Anti-Terrorist Front of India issued fresh threat to dig up the Eden Gardens pitch in Kolkata where Pakistan is expected to play its first match of the World T20 tournament.

Pakistan is due to play their opening match against a first-round qualifier in Kolkata on March 16.
