Consecutive bombing killed 24 in Baghdad

BAGHDAD: A market place in eastern Baghdad has been attacked by Militants killing at least 24 and wounding dozens.

A bombed ripped through the crowded Mredi market in the Shiite district of Sadr City. A police officer said. Minutes later, a suicide bomber blew himself up amid the crowd that had gathered at the site of the first bombing he added. 52 others wounded he said.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks but they bore the hallmarks of Islamic State group.

The attacks came shortly after  security forces repelled an attack by IS Millitants on the capital’s western suburb of Abu Gharib, officials said.
