LONDON: Director Conservative Friends of Pakistan in the United Kingdom (UK) and Chairman World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis (WCOP) Syed Qamar Raza on Saturday appreciated Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi for raising the voice of the people of Pakistan in the United Nations General Assembly in its true perspective besides highlighting the Kashmir cause.
Talking to APP, Syed Qamar Raza said Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan as the latter was in completed without the former.
He also appreciated Shah Mehmood for exposing Indian forces’ atrocities in Indian held Kashmir while strongly criticizing India for rejecting Pakistan’s offer of talks to settle issues including the Kashmir issue peacefully.
Syed Qamar Raza called for resolution of Kashmir issue according to UN Security Council Resolutions on Kashmir and wishes of the people of Kashmir.
Highlighting Pakistan and United Kingdom’s relations, he said both the countries enjoyed cordial and friendly relations based on mutual respect and understanding.
He, while quoting former British Prime Minister David Cameron, said: “Friends of Pakistan are friends of UK and enemies of Pakistan are enemies of UK”.
He added that Conservative Friends of Pakistan wanted to further strengthen these relations especially in the fields of trade and investments for the mutual benefits of the two friendly countries, adding more than 120 British companies were operating in Pakistan.
Syed Qamar Raza who is also former President of Pakistan United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UKPKCCI), highly appreciated the initiatives of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar for building water reservoirs to overcome future water shortage in the country.
He reiterated that as being British-Pakistani, he and other British-Pakistanis would come forward and make efforts for raising funds for dams to achieve this objective for the socio-economic prosperity of Pakistan and its people.
