Coronavirus: Govt has suspended all passenger trains till 31st of March

ISLAMABAD: In its endeavor to contain the Menace of Coronavirus Pandemic Government has suspended all passenger train services throughout Pakistan from midnight till 31st of March, 2020.

According to details passengers who have advance booking on suspended trains will be accommodated in other trains of their choice on priority once the service is starts from 1st day of next month.

Those passengers who dont want to use the ticket will get full refund once the train operations recommences.

Coronavirus: PR washes trains and stations

23rd of March, 2020

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has commenced washing Lahore Railway Station (with chlorine-mixed water) in collaboration with LMC and other civic agencies in order to protect its passengers and staff from the mysterious respiratory ailment caused by Coronavirus.

According to the PR, on Sunday (22nd of March, 2020) various platforms, rail tracks, open spaces, yards etc were washed with anti-septic water in a bid to avert possible spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

PR has also started the drive to clean other major stations in the country under the same sort of arrangement. PR staff also distributed leaflets to inform people about the menace of Coronavirus Pandemic.

Coronavirus infects PR: 42 trains suspended

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has announced suspension of 42 trains in order to contain spread of Coronavirus by limiting human movements from city to city and province to province.

Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed while  talking to journalists informed that 12 trains would be suspended from Sunday (22nd of March, 2020) whereas 22 trains will be suspended from Tuesday (24th of March, 2020) morning and other 8 trains will be suspended on first day of June, 2020.

According to Shaikh Rasheed the decision of phase-wise suspension of trains had been taken to facilitate the passengers. He said the notification for suspension of trains would remain effective till 15th day of the Holy month of Ramazan.

Nevertheless, according to the situation the notification would either be revoked or renewed. The minister had appealed the passengers to avoid unnecessary traveling and stay home.

Coronavirus: Govt set to close down 12 trains

19th of March, 2020

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed while talking to journalists here today revealed that government would close down 12 trains from Sunday (22nd of March, 2020) amid fear of coronavirus spread.

He further informed that twenty more trains would be closed from Wednesday (1st of the April, 2020) as a precautionary measure against the global pandemic.

According to him that the government had completed all arrangements for reducing rush of passengers and improved cleanliness at Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi Railways stations.

Shaikh Rasheed further claimed that screening of all the passengers was also being ensured at the railways stations.
