ISLAMABAD: A US $ 200 million financing agreement has been signed between World Bank and Govt. of Pakistan for Covid19 pandemic response.
Pandemic Response Effectiveness in Pakistan a project that is meant to support the government to prepare and respond to the disease and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness.
It is expected to support strengthening the country’s national health systems for public health preparedness.
Pakistan to get $2m ADB grant to combat COVID-19

ISLAMABAD: ADB has today approved $2 million grant to enable Pakistan government effectively attempt to handle COVID-19 crisis.
Pakistan will purchase emergency medical supplies, personal protective equipment, diagnostic/laboratory supplies, and other equipment using the money coming from Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund.
ADB Country Director Xiaohong Yang while commenting on the grant stated: “ADB recognizes the extraordinary burden of this pandemic on Pakistan and is committed to supporting Pakistan in the fight to control COVID-19.
“This grant will help strengthen COVID-19 detection, improve infection prevention and control, and boost Pakistan’s capacity to respond to the pandemic.”
IMF willing to support Pakistan in its war against Coronavirus

ISLAMABAD: IMF has shown willingness to help Pakistan that is suffering economically while attempting to contain the menace of Coronavirus.
According to details the IMF has stated that it would consider Pakistan’s request for financial assistance under its Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI) facility to augment the country’s foreign exchange reserves and budgetary support enabling the Pakistan government absorb the shock due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has stated: “Our team is working expeditiously to respond to this request so that a proposal can be considered by the IMF’s executive board as soon as possible.”
Pakistan intends to reschedule IMF, WB, ADB loans

MULTAN: FM Shah Mehmood Quershi addressing a meeting to assess the measures taken to contain Corona Pandemic and Insaf Relief Package here yesterday (Tuesday 31st March, 2020) stated that Govt. intended to reschedule its loan from IMF, WB and ADB.
Claiming that government was closely monitoring coronavirus spread at National and International level Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that PM Imran Khan had constituted two sub-committees and established a cell to gauge the situation regarding coronavirus.
Informing that Pakistan was in contact with the foreign ministers of European Union, G-77, and G-22 countries the FM said the country was playing its positive role for the removal of sanctions on Iran as it was unable to even purchase ventilators despite having money to do so.
