Coronavirus: Pakistan’s toll of confirmed cases rises to 53

ISLAMABAD: As cases are being reported from different cities of Pakistan, the tally is rising by hour.

Dr. Zafar Mirza took to the Twitter to inform: “There are now 52 confirmed cases, of which effective contact tracing is being carried out. We’ve increased our diagnostic capacity, and are now able to carry out #coronavirus test in 13 labs across the country.”

ZafarPresently, (after emergence of 17 new cases today – Sunday 15th of March, 2020) 53 cases of Coronaviris infection have been confirmed.

Punjab’s first victim, a 54-year-old man, had been admitted at Mayo Hospital Lahore. He came back from UK on 10th of March and was brought to the facility last night. Luckily his family members were declared healthy and allowed to go home.

Incidentally as soon as the first case was confirmed the doctors of Mayo Hospital refused to work there.

Two of the patients in Karachi had been discharged after doctors gave them clean chit. 32 more in the province of Sindh are being treated.

Sindh government spokesman Barrister Murtaza Wahab took to the Twitter to inform that 13 of the latest cases were religious tourists who had been quarantined at the Taftan border before their arrival in Sukkur.

The 34th confirmed case of Pakistan emerged in Islamabad today. The victim happens to be husband of the 30-yer-old lady who voyaged from States recently and tested positive. Reportedly, she is on a ventilator in PIMS hospital.
