Coronavirus propaganda meant to discourage voters: Khamenei

TEHRAN: Irani Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has stated here today that the negative propaganda about Coronavirus Epidemic was aimed at discouraging voters in general election.

According to Khamenei: “This negative propaganda began a few months ago and grew larger approaching the election and in the past two days, under the pretext of an illness and a virus, their media did not miss the slightest opportunity to discourage people from voting…(Our enemies) are even opposed to any election by the Iranian people.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Iranians voted in a parliamentary election on Friday , 21st of February, 2020, while the announcement apropos an outbreak of Coronavirus was made a couple of days earlier.

Coronavirus reaches Iran, Pakistan closes border

QUETTA: Learning that Coronavirus Epidemic has claimed 8 lives across western border, Pakistan has temporarily closed its border with Iran at Taftan today. 

Meanwhile, Balochistan Govt. has declared emergency in cities close to Iran and imposed ban on travel of pilgrims into Iran via road.

Balochistan Disaster Management Authority has been directed by the CM to establish a 100-bed tent hospital at the Pak-Iran border crossing in Taftan. Screening of those pilgrims staying at Pakistan House has also commenced.

While the tent hospital is being erected, a team of doctors from Islamabad has arrived here.
