Coronavirus: Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh to distribute provisions

SUKKUR: Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh has announced distribution of edibles worth Rs. 15 million to those needy people affected by the government-imposed lockdown in order to contain the menace of Coronavirus Pandemic.  

He appealed the affluent citizens to come forward at this moment of difficulty to support the Municipal Corporation in the form of provisions (not cash). Further commenting on the measure Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh said here today (Thursday 26th of March, 2020) that the step was being taken according to the policy of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Arsalan Islam Shaikh said that it was due to the support extended by the Chairman that they were able to distribute 52 bags of provisions worth Rs. 15 million to the people in need.

Mayor informed that each bag comprised of wheat, rice, sugar, ghee etc that would last for ten to twelve days.  He told in this first stage orphans, widows and handicapped people were being given preference. Moreover, he said, soon the package announced by the Sindh Government would be received and that will help in providing provisions to needy people without hurting their self-esteem.

Providing details of Rs. 15 million, Mayor told that a family, on the condition of anonymity, had provided Rs. 5 million for this noble cause while all the UCs of the city had chipped Rs. 2.5 lakh each from their own funds. Municipal Corporation has provided Rs. 1 million from its fund while an amount of Rs. 2.5 million was received from another fund.

Stating that the bags will shortly be distributed among the deserving people, Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh appealed the affluent citizens of Sukkur to support the poor and underprivileged families. He reiterated that provisions and not the money was required to help those daily wagers suffering from hardships due to lockdown.

Arsalan Islam Shaikh also said that those giving provisions should also assign the job of monitoring to a person to ensure that their donations are going to those who really deserve that: “We are standing with the people in this difficult moment please come to the fore to give a helping hand,” Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh appealed.Sukkur 1 Sukkur 2

SUKKUR: Mayor of Sukkur Municipal Corporation (SMC) Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh has appealed the citizens to remain indoors during lockdown imposed by the government of Sindh in order to contain the deadly Coronavirus Pandemic.

“I, Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh, Mayor Sukkur Municipal Corporation making appeal to the Citizens of Sukkur. That as per decision of the Government of Sindh, the Sindh Province has been locked-down, therefore, the all the citizens belonging to are hereby requested to please not leave their homes without any reasonable cause and follow the instructions of the Government of Sindh strictly avoiding Social activities and relations, so that, Corona Virus could not be spread and initiatives steps / decisions taken by the Government of Sindh could be successful.

“In the light of the decision taken by the Government of Sindh to lockdown the Sindh Province the Sukkur Municipal Corporation has launched a Complaint Portal Service and established online complaint center in the Head Office of Sukkur Municipal Corporation to resolve the public issues, problems and difficulties particularly those guests have been accommodated in the Quarantine Center Labour Colony Sukkur and their relatives at the door step of the complainants home without any nuisance.

“Accordingly, in case of any difficulties problems and issues is being face by the General Public they may be registered their complaints through Toll Free Numbers 111-757-777, 111-SKR-777, Mobile Application (Sukkur Citizen Portal) and Website www.smc.gos.pk. For the seek of public facility the Complaint Center has been divided into two sections (01st) for General Public Complaint and (2nd) for the Guests those are residing in the Quarantine Center.

“In the pure interest to facilitate the Guests of Quarantine Center, the Sukkur Municipal Corporation has installed (150) Internet Connections Devices, their monthly bills will be beared by the Sukkur Municipal Corporation, wherein, the Guests of Quarantine Center may not be registered their complaints through application or website, as, a Separate Section has been reserved for their facilities, in which, they can registered their complaints mentioning their Names, Phone number and Room number, the concerned officers will be resolved their issues at once, such message will also be communicated on their register cell numbers.

“The Municipal Administration stands with together with the initiative steps of Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh and will perform their duties under the leadership of Chief Minister as well as appreciating the decision of lockdown taken by the Government of Sindh, as the Corona Virus is being spread with the Social actives and relations, therefore, it is my heartily request and appeal with the General Public of Sukkur to avoid Social activities and relations and make a reasonable distance between with together and not leave their homes without any reasonable cause.
