ISLAMABAD: Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen Mohammad Afzal has announced on Sunday (2nd Aug.) at a Presser held here that work on cleaning major storm-water drains in Karachi will commence today (Monday 3rd of Aug.).

He said that Military top brass had given a nod and the operation would begin today under the supervision of Corps Commander: “The main objective behind this is to prevent further damage during the next few monsoon spells.”

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier in the week, NDMA chairman was directed by the PM to visit Karachi and begin cleaning up the Port City.

PM had also signed a summary authorizing NDMA and the FWO to carry out a cleanliness drive in Karachi with unlimited funds.
