LAHORE : A court here, while dismissing the FIA case against journalist Imran Riaz Khan on Friday (3rd of Feb 2023) has directed the agency to release him immediately.
It may be recalled that the Cyber Crime Wing of FIA had nabbed him on charges of incitement to mutiny, from Allama Iqbal International Airport here early Thursday (2nd Feb 2023) morning.
According to the FIR registered against him, Imran Riaz Khan was “found involved in publicly making a hate speech at a conference which falls under the territorial jurisdiction of FIA cyber crime cell”.
He was booked by FIA under PPC sections 11 (electronic forgery), 20 (malicious code), 24 (legal recognition of offenses committed in relation to information systems) of the PECA 2016, 131/109 (incitement to mutiny), 500 (punishment for defamation) and 505 (public mischief).
Last July too Imran Riaz Khan was taken into custody for a number of sedition cases but was released by LHC on bail.
