LONDON: PM  Boris Johnson announced on Monday a new national lockdown to be imposed all over the country in order to contain the menace of the new variant of COVID-19, the mysterious respiratory malady.

Meanwhile, the country has speed-up its vaccination programme by becoming the first nation to start using the shot developed by Oxford University and drugmaker AstraZeneca.

Since the new variant is spreading alarmingly fast, people will have to stay at home again.
