COVID-19 claims life of Star Wars’ General Ematt

SURREY: Coronavirus has claimed life of 76-year-old Star Wars actor Andrew Jack here yesterday (Tuesday 31st of March, 2020). 

He appeared in Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi as General Ematt, as well as Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

His wife, Gabrielle Rogers, who is presently quarantined in Australia took to the Twitter to inform: “Andrew Jack was diagnosed with coronavirus 2 days ago. He was in no pain, and he slipped away peacefully knowing that his family were all with him.”

Coronavirus claims life of famous Japanese comedian

TOKYO: 70-year-old Japanese comedian Ken Shimura, who was suffering from the mysterious Coronavirus, expired yesterday (Sunday 29th of March, 2020).

Shimura, who commenced his career back in 1970’s was one of Japan’s best-known comedians. According to reports he had developed fever and respiratory problems on 19th of March and was being treated in a local hospital. Shimura’s medical records reveal that he had a lung cancer surgery in 2016.

PARIS: Coronavirus has claimed life of veteran Afro-jazz legend, 86-year-old Cameroonian, Manu Dibango.

Manu Dibango’s music publisher Thierry Durepaire has confirmed that his death has come due to Covid-19: “…died early this morning in a hospital in the Paris region.” The publisher further informed that the funeral service of Manu Dibango will be held in strict privacy, and a tribute to his memory will be organised when possible.

Manu Dibango was one of the pioneers of Afro jazz and also fused funk with traditional Cameroonian music. Aficionados may recall that when he accused Michael Jackson of borrowing one of his hooks for two songs on the famous Thriller album in 2009, Jackson settled out of court.

Coronavirus claims the life of Spanish princess

PARIS: The 86-year-old Spanish Princess Maria Teresa of Bourbon-Parma has become the first royal who passed away here on SUnday 29th of March, 2020 suffering from the mysterious malady caused by novel coronavirus.

Her brother Duke of Aranjuez, announcing the death, stated: “On this afternoon our sister Maria Teresa de Borbon Parma and Borbon Busset, a victim of the coronavirus COVID-19, died in Paris at the age of eighty-six.”

Her funeral will be held on Friday in Madrid.

Coronavirus: British Health Secretary Matt Hancock tests positive

LONDON: British Health  Secretary Matt Hancock has tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Hancock announced the news on Twitter yesterday (Friday 27th of March, 2020), just a couple of hours after PM Boris Johnson disclosed that he had also tested positive for the virus.

“Following medical advice, I was advised to test for Coronavirus. I’ve tested positive. Thankfully my symptoms are mild and I’m working from home & self-isolating.  Vital we follow the advice to protect our NHS & save lives,” health secretary maintained.

UK PM Boris Johnson tests positive for Covid-19

LONDON: Ten Downing Street’s spokeswoman has informed here today that after experiencing mild symptoms yesterday (Friday 26th of March, 2020), PM Boris Johnson was tested for coronavirus by NHS staff at No. 10 on the personal advice of England’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty,and the result was +ve.

In keeping with the guidance, the Prime Minister is self-isolating in Downing Street. He is continuing to lead the government’s response to coronavirus.

Coronavirus infects 71-year-old Prince Charles

LONDON: 71-year-old heir to the British throne tested positive for Coronavirus.

Clarence House statement held: “The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.

“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

Prince of Wales was tested on 23rd of March and got the results on 24th. Prince and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall Camilla (who tested negative) are presently self-isolating at Scotland home.

Coronavirus: London marathon postponed

14th of March, 2020

LONDON: Most of the major sports events all over the world have been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, including London Marathon that was scheduled to be held on 26th of  April.

According to details now the London Marathon will be held on 4th of October, 2020. It is pertinent to mention here that it is the first time London Marathon has been postponed since its launch in 1981.

Event director Hugh Brasher commenting on the development said: “The world is in an unprecedented situation, grappling with a global pandemic of Covid-19, and public health is everyone’s priority”. 

London Marathon organizers informed that every runner with a marathon place will be eligible for the new date.

The Manchester Marathon, scheduled for 5th April, has also been postponed. Brighton Marathon, due to take place on 19th April, has been rescheduled for 20th September.

Coronavirus: London Book Fair cancelled, James Bond 007 affected too

LONDON: 25,000 authors, publishers, agents and an enormous number of  aficionados will not be able to attend the world’s biggest book fair next week here as it has been postponed due to the looming specter of Coronavirus Epidemic.

As major publishers refused to attend, organizers Reed Exhibitions has today announced that the London Book Fair 2020, scheduled to take place at Olympia, London, from 10th  to 12th March would be cancelled following the escalation of COVID-19 Coronavirus in Europe: It is with reluctance that we have taken the decision not to go ahead with this year’s event.”

Meanwhile, the release of No Time To Die featuring Daniel Craig for the last time as 007, that had been due for release on 3rd of April has been put back by seven months due to panic that has gripped the world. It will not come out on 25th of November, 2020. According to producers they had moved the release of No Time To Die after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace.
