COVID-19: COAS visits Garrison Quarantine Facility, Quetta

QUETTA: COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Garrison Quarantine Facility for COVID-19 and interacted with troops occupied in COVID relief work here on Wednesday (13th of May, 2020).

Maintaining that the Province was the future of Pakistan, Army Chief Bajwa said it was their duty to fully assist its government and the people.

During the visit to HQ Southern Command, the COAS was briefed  on security state-of affairs., operational preparedness of the formation and border management including fencing along Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran Borders.

COAS directed all commanders to reach out to people in far flung areas of the Province to help contain the virus-crisis.

Taking to the Twitter DG ISPR held: “COAS visited Quetta. Briefed on security sit, op preparedness & border management incl fencing along Pak-Afg & Pak-Iran borders. Apprised about formation’s assistance to civil administration in fighting pandemic & continued measures for socio-economic uplift of the area…COAS visited Quarantine Facility, appreciated the formation for arrangements & facilities established as per SOPs and guidelines. ‘Balochistan is Pakistan’s future & its our duty to fully assist the govt & people towards a peaceful & prosperous Balochistan’ COAS…While talking to officers & men, COAS lauded their dedication and professionalism. COAS directed all commanders to reach out to people in far flung areas of Balochistan to help mitigate challenges faced by masses due to COVID.”

 

Earlier, on 7th day of May COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa was given a detailed briefing on operational preparedness, prevailing security situation including border security measures along Pak-Afghan border.

COAS was received by Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood, Commander Peshawar Corps. He was also told about relief operation being carried out by army in order to support civil administration to deal with Covid-19 outbreak. General Bajwa visited Covid-19 facility at the Combined Military Hospital.

The COAS interacted with troops busy in relief efforts against Covid-19 and appreciated officers and men for operational readiness, continued vigilance and high morale. COAS directed Pakistan Army officials to continue assisting other institutions in fighting the COVID-19 Pandemic: “Reach out to people particularly those affected by Covid-19 for bringing comfort in this hour of distress.”
