COVID-19 Lockdown: SOPs for the businesses in Sindh

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Saturday (25th of April, 2020) has issued SOPs for businesses to follow while conducting services online during lockdown imposed to contain Coronavirus.

– Businesses will keep their shutters down while operating online from 9am to 3pm.

– Customers will not be allowed to enter the premises of the business.

– Businesses are required to give detailed briefings on the COVID-19 spread, preventive steps to be taken against the spread, and the signs and symptoms of the disease to look out for.

– Workplaces must put up instructions with text as well as pictorial descriptions of guidelines to follow.

– It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that all employees follow the safety procedures.

– Owner will provide protective gears to the workers.

– Owners and workers will maintain social distance, will not shake hands and wash hands frequently.

– Daily log of medical history of employees will be maintained.

– Thermal guns will be used to check fever and those showing symptoms of infection will not be allowed to enter.

– Employer will foot all the treatment bills in case an employee gets infected.

– Delivery persons will display their work identity card, NIC and maintain log of each delivery.

– Those handling deliveries must always wear protective gear, helmets with mark of business on them, carry hand sanitizers, place the delivery items on the customer’s doorstep and wipe them with a disinfectant.

– A distance of at least one metre is to be observed at all times.

– Cash handling should be minimized. The business must provide customers electronic receipts.


– Any business found violating any of the set protocols will be liable for action under the Sindh Epidemic Disease Control Act 2014 as well as any applicable labor or industrial law.
