COVID-19: USA Provides 100 Ventilators to Pakistan (Text and Video)

KARACHI:  The United States Government, through the USAID in cooperation with Pakistan’s NDMA, has donated a shipment of 100 brand-new, state-of-the-art ventilators to support Pakistan in its fight against COVID-19.

The ventilators, that arrived in here yesterday (2nd  of July, 2020), will be deployed in hospitals across Pakistan (13 will be given to Balochistan, 27 to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 23 to Punjab, 26 to Sindh, 6 to Azad Jammu & Kashmir and 5 to GB).

US diplomatic mission and USAID hold that the donation delivers on President Donald Trump’s generous offer of these critically needed supplies and supports Pakistan’s urgent response to the pandemic.

Made in America, the ventilators are valued at about $3 million (Rs. 500,543,400/-) and reflect the latest in cutting-edge medical design and technology. They are compact, easily deployable, and will enable Pakistan to more effectively treat patients suffering from COVID-19.

Ambassador Paul Jones remarked: “The United States stands with Pakistan in its fight against coronavirus. These American-made ventilators will help Pakistani patients in the most acute need of medical care.”

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo took to the Twitter to maintain that the donation of 100 American-made ventilators to Pakistan symbolized the strong bilateral partnership on COVID-19 pandemic.

“American innovation and expertise is critical to the fight against COVID-19. This donation of 100 US-produced ventilators to Pakistan symbolizes our strong partnership on COVID-19. The U.S. is committed to providing ventilators around the world,” Mike Pompeo held.

State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs said: “Today, the US reaffirmed its commitment to helping Pakistan fight COVID-19 with a delivery of 100 new U.S.-produced ventilators that will help save lives”.

“This is another example of our commitment to fighting COVID-19 and the strength of the U.S.-Pakistan partnership. Together, we can defeat this pandemic,” stated State Department’s Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus.

It is pertinent to mention here that US-Pakistan health partnership to fight coronavirus is helping to improve and expand laboratory testing, disease monitoring, case tracking, infection prevention and control, and patient care.

USA has contributed nearly $27 million in new funding so far to this vital partnership that is growing every day. The diplomatic mission here also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s contribution of medical supplies to help fight coronavirus in the United States.
