COVID-19: WHO says situation is unpredictable!

KARACHI: WHO, while commenting on the outbreak of pandemic COVID-19, has said that the situation was unpredictable. 

Mysterious respiratory disease COVID-19 is an infectious malady that requires contact and droplet precautions. According to WHO you can protect yourself as well as others from COVID-19 by means of the following measures:

1) WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, emphasizing on the use of mask, stated: “In light of evolving evidence, WHO advises that governments should encourage the general public to wear masks where there is widespread transmission and physical distancing is difficult.” 

2a) If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention.

2b) Self-isolate even with minor symptoms such as cough, headache, mild fever, until you recover.

2c) WHO reckons it absolutely necessary that people who are sick with COVID-19 symptoms should wear a medical mask even when at home.

3) Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based sanitizer or wash them with soap and water. This will kill virus. 

4) Beware! Hand sanitizers recommended to protect against COVID-19 are alcohol-based and therefore can be flammable. Do not use before handling fire or cooking.

5) Maintain at least three feet distance between yourself and others. You will thus not breath in the infected droplets.

6) Avoid going to crowded places. In a crowd it is difficult to maintain a distance of three feet or more.

7) Don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth. Hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth.

8) Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately and wash your hands.

9) COVID-19  patients can infect others at any time, including during transfer and transport. So in this case try to avoid take extra care. Even the door handles of ambulance can be dangerous.

10) Disinfectants that are active against COVID-19 should be used repeatedly.
