LAHORE: PCB has accepted the resignation of Pakistan cricket team’s white-ball coach Gary Kirsten here on Monday (28th October, 2024).
PCB had hired the former S. African top-order batsman Gary Kirsten six months ago (on 28th April, 2024) to coach the Green Shirts that faced humiliating defeats that were inflicted by novice US and the Indians during T20I WC.
It may be recalled that Gary Kristen, reacting to the T20I WC ouster, has stated:“They call it a team, but it isn’t a team!”
According to former (India’s) World-Cup-winning coach, Pakistani team lacks unity: “They aren’t supporting each other! Everyone is separated, left and right!” He said that he had worked with many teams but had never seen such a situation!
He further revealed that not only the fitness level of the Pakistani players was not up to the mark, they are far behind in terms of skill level as compared with the rest of the world.
Coach Gary Kirsten, while pointing out that no Pakistani batter knew which shot to play and when, warned: “Players who improve in these areas will be included in the team; otherwise, they will be dropped!”

Meanwhile PCB has hired Jason Gillespie to coach the Pakistan men’s cricket team in next month’s white-ball tour of Australia.
