Cricket T20 World Cup: Pakistan beats India by 10 wickets

Dubai International Cricket Stadium: Green Shirts beat the Men in Blue by 10 wickets in the Super 12s encounter here on Sunday (24th of October, 2021).

Chasing the target of 152 runs  set by India, Babar Azam’s bat yielded 68 runs with the help of six fours and two sixes. Muhammad Rizwan scored 78 off 41 balls aided by 2 fours and three sixes.  Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was later declared Man of the Match, took three  scalps for 31.

His victims were Rohit Sharma (sans any run), KL Rahul (who scored 6 runs) and the skipper Virat Kohli  (57). Talking to the Media Shaheen Afridi said that the new ball was difficult to swing yet he managed to do it. In his first over Hasan Ali sent Suryakumar Yadav (yielding only 11 runs) back to pavilion, with the help of wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan who dived to dexterously catch the ball.

India lost its 7th wicket at 146 when Hardik Pandya was dismissed by Haris Rauf. He mustered only 11 runs out. India lost its 5th wicket when Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 13, was caught out off Hasan Ali’s delivery. India’s 4th wicket fell at the score of 84 when Wicket Keeper Rishabh Pant was sent to pavilion back by Shadab Khan. He scored 39 runs off 30 balls.

Earlier, Babar Azam invited India to bat after winning the toss. It was the 16th match of the T20 World Cup 2021. PM Imran Khan took to the Twitter to congratulate the winning team: “Congratulations to the Pakistan Team & esp to Babar Azam who led from the front, as well as to the brilliant performances of Rizwan & Shaheen Afridi. The nation is proud of you all.”
