Cricket T20 World Cup: Pakistan beats NZ by 5 wickets

SHARJAH: Green Shirts, that was chasing the 135-run target set by BlackCaps in the T20 World Cup’s second round, managed to win the match by 5 wickets.

Green Shirts, after winning the toss invited New Zealand to bat in its second match of the 2nd round of the T20 World Cup: “We are going to bowl first. We will take early wickets and put pressure on them. The second reason is the dew factor,” said the skipper.

Shaheen Afridi took the seventh Black Caps scalp and sent Tim Seifert (Wicket Keeper) back to pavilion. The batting New Zealand Team lost Martin Guptill (dismissed by Haris Rauf, who hunted 4 BlackCaps), Daryll Mitchell (dismissed by Imad Wasim) and Neesham (dismissed by Mohammad Hafeez).

Pakistan lost its captain Babar Azam (who managed to muster only 9 runs up), when Tim Southee cut his innings short. Imad Wasim, with a score of 11 runs, was the fifth player to go back to pavilion. Muhammad Rizwan, whose bat yielded 33 runs, was dismissed by Ish Sodhi. Shoaib Malik made 26 while Asif Ali scored 27 (not out).

Ramiz Raja Tweeted: “Great win! NZ is a tough opponent and winning a tough game gives you confidence . Head down boys and on to the next one! Pakistan Zindabad.”
