Crippled fire dept fails to contain SITE plastic factory fire

KARACHI: Pathetic condition of the crippled fire department (meant to douse the incendie in this Metropolis inhabited by 22 million people) has again been exposed when a massive fire engulfed a plastic factory here at SITE’s Labor Square this morning as a result of a boiler explosion. 

NewsPakistan.TV correspondent has reported that due to incompetence of the Department the fire, that commenced at eight in the morning, continued to spread unabated till noon. Thick fumes caused by the burning of plastic was visible from  distance. 

However, with meagre resources firemen managed to contain the flames after seven hours. By 3PM they started cooling operation. 

Mayor Karachi while talking to NewsPakistan.TV lamented apropos lack of resources. He further said that the industrialists too do not equip their factories with adequate fire-fighting equipment.
