CTD neutralises 3 proscribed BLA activists in Balochistan

MUSAKHEL: CTD has neutralised 3 and nabbed 2 activists belonging to proscribed BLA in Rarhasham area here on Sunday (3rd November, 2024).

According to details CTD, FC and Police personnel had been deployed in the area. When a contingent challenged a group of 12 BLA activists they opened fire on them.

In the gun battle two BLA activists lost their lives while 2 were arrested.

Balochistan has constantly been a theatre for such attacks. On Friday IED, harbouring 10 kgs of explosives, fitted on a motorcycle parked near Girls High School Chowk was detonated by means of a remote-controlled device at 8.35 am killing 9 and injuring 33.

Mobile carrying cops deployed to escort Polio workers targeted: According to details the unknown bombers primarily targeted a police mobile that was heading to Mastung District Hospital to pick polio workers up in order to escort them as they move from door to door administrating Polio drops.

The IED was detonated remotely (close to a girls’ school where pupils were coming in vans and rickshaws) at a time when a police vehicle appeared near the bomb and was destroyed completely.

But tragically 6 boys and girls (aged between 10 to 13) also lost their lives due to the blast. The thirty-three injured, (mostly pupils) were taken to DHQ and Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani Hospital. Later nine gravely wounded (3 in critical condition) were shifted to Quetta Trauma Center.

There is an insinuation that the Polio workers operating in the region were the main targets of the bombers. Since Police were guarding one such team in the area they attacked the Mobile van. As a result one cop lost his life while 23 others got injured. DC Mastung said: “Terrorists attacked a police van near Civil Hospital, where the police mobile was patrolling when the attack occurred.”
