CWC 2019: India confirm semi-final place with Bangladesh win

BIRMINGHAM: Kohli XI defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs at Edgbaston on Tuesday to enter the semi-finals of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Indian side scored 314 runs against Bangladesh team in the 40th match of ICC Men’s Cup 2019 today.

Chasing 315, Bangladesh were in the hunt till the 34th over but all their hopes were dashed when Shakib Al Hasan fell to Hardik Pandya.

Bangladesh needed to win their final two games to have any chance of progressing to a first semi-final. But despite another half century from Shakib al Hasan they fell short.

An England win against New Zealand in Durham on Wednesday is likely to see both sides join India and holders Australia in next week’s semi-finals.

India have now reached the semi-finals in 3 successive World Cups. They won the tournament in 2011, lost to Australia in the semi-finals in 2015 and now have the chance to win their 3rd World Cup.
