Cybercrime: FIA arrests man for blackmailing women

ISLAMABAD: The FIA’s Cyber-Crime Cell on Thursday arrested a man who blackmailed women and tried to extort money from them in Karachi.

According to the Deputy Director, FIA’s Cyber-Crime Cell, the man, who was arrested after a raid in New Karachi, met women on matrimonial websites and after befriending them, he used to meet them in person on the promise that he was interested in marrying them.

He told the accused was then taking their illicit videos and was later blackmailing them with the videos. He tried to extort Rs 200,000 from the woman who filed the complaint against him, the Deputy Director told. He managed to get Rs 30,000 from the woman and through its investigation, the FIA found that he had extorted Rs 600,000 from another woman, he added.
