Dar urges ADB to consider huge development needs of Pakistan

FRANKFURT: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday met Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Takehiko Nakao in Frankfurt, Germany to discuss development needs of Pakistan.

Talking to President ADB Takehiko Nakao on the sidelines of ADB’s annual meeting, Dar said the government of Pakistan is working to enhance the financial side of the country and it has launched several development projects with the aide provided by ADB.

Urging ADB to consider the huge development needs of Pakistan, the minister said ADB may consider enhancing the financial resource allocation for Pakistan especially under Energy Sector Reform Programme and Public Sector Reforms Programme.

Dar reaffirmed that the government has put the country on the path of economic stability by launching several development projects with the support of Asian Development Bank.

The minister also appreciated ADB’s support for providing 400 million dollars under Sustainable Energy Sector Reform Programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Nakao said Pakistan remains as one of the important countries for ADB to enhance its development assistance.
