UPPER KOHISTAN (KP): A large number of Kohistanis, accusing Wapda of not honouring its commitments apropos 4,700 MW Dasu Hydropower Project, staged a dharna in front of DC office and kept businesses closed in Komila Bazaar on Monday (24th Feb, 2025).
According to details residents of Upper Kohistan, including traders and transporters manifested against Wapda demanding increase in development funds for their area, compensation for houses demolished, recruitment of locals in the project, construction of hospital etc.

Diamer-Bhasha Dam Affectees:
It may be recalled that thousands of Diamer-Bhasha Dam affectees continued their dharna in Chilas for the sixth consecutive day on 23rd Feb, 2025 demanding:
1) Eighty per cent royalty of Diamer Dam for G.B;
2) Thirty per cent royalty of Dassu Dam for GB;
3) Free Electricity to Diamer district;
4) Discounted rate of Electricity for GB from Diamer Dam;
5) Compensation for 18,000 acres acquired for the dam;
6) Commercial and Residential Plots;
7) Education;
8) Health;
10) Sewerage Projects;
11) Quota for grade 1 to 16 jobs;
12) Regularisation of contract employees.
The US$8.5 Diamer-Bhasha Dam would effect thousands of citoyens.
