LARKANA: Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s 64th birthday is being celebrated today with the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) leaders and supporters arriving at her last abode at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto to offer Fateha.
Benazir, the first woman leader of a Muslim country, was born on June 21, 1953. She served two terms as the prime minister of Pakistan – from 1988 to 1990 and 1993 to 1996.
Benazir was educated at Harvard University and subsequently studied philosophy, political science, and economics at the University of Oxford.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will cut a cake along with senior party leaders at the Naudero House to mark the iconic leader’s 64th birthday. He is expected to address the gathering of party activists in the evening.
The celebratory ceremonies at Garhi Khuda Bux began early morning on Wednesday (today) with recitation of the holy Quran. A large number people, including jiyalas from across the country, have arrived at the Bhuttos’ mausoleum to pay their respects to their leader.
