KHATMANDU: Internationally renowned 40-year-old Swiss mountain climber Ueli Steck has finally been killed by the deadly range of Himalayan Mountains.
According to sources he arrived here when spring mountaineering season commenced last month in order to climb 8850m killer Mount Everest.
He is the first mortality reported so far during this season. There are hundreds of foreign climbers present here aiming to take advantage of possible windows of fair weather.
Ueli Steck, aka Swiss Machine, was known for his speed-climbing as he had conquered 82 (over 4000m high) peaks in the Alps in 62 days.
KATHMANDU: A heli was utilized to transport Swiss Machine Ueli Steck’s body from the point of accident to a hospital here.
