Dogra Maharaja soldiers shot 22 peaceful Kashmiris down on 13th July 1931

ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of Kashmir Martyrs’ Day (13th of July, 2021) Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that Pakistan stood with the Kashmiris in their just struggle and would not compromise till they get their right to self determination guaranteed by UNSC resolutions. 

“We stand with Kashmiris on the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day and pay tribute to 22 Shuhada of 13 July 1931, martyred when the Dogra Maharaja’s soldiers fired on peaceful protesters,” the prime minister said in a tweet. Maintaining that the struggle of Kashmiris against tyranny and illegal Indian Occupation was “steeped in a history of resistance and sacrifice”, he stated: “This indomitable spirit of resistance remains alive as Kashmiri men and women continue to fight illegal Indian Occupation.”

President Dr. Arif Alvi, terming the resistance of Kashmiris as “just and selfless” against India’s illegal Indian occupation said the day was not far when they would achieve their goal of freedom: “That day is not far Insha’Allah. We shall see.”  The president said the courage and determination of brave Kashmiris against the subjugation of India was undeterred.

“I salute my Kashmiri brothers and sisters on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day. The spirit of the 22 martyrs of 13 July, 1931 has been kept alive by their descendants who demand self-determination as guaranteed by the international community,” he said. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for the just cause of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK): “Pakistan will continue to provide diplomatic, political and legal support to the Kashmiris in IIOJK till they achieve their goal of freedom,” he said.

Furthermore, taking to the Twitter Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain stated that the day reminds us of courage and bravery exhibited by the Kashmiris against tyranny: “We salute the martyrs of July 13, 1931 who raised voice for dignity of the Holy Quran and revolted against repression”.
