ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Friday sought replies from all secretary interior and home secretaries of all the provinces regarding the supply and usage of drugs in the educational institutions, within ten days.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar also directed provincial inspectors general of police to submit the progress report on a monthly basis.
During the course of proceedings, the chief justice remarked that some black sheep in the police were involved in the selling of drugs in schools and colleges and the high-ups should take action against them.
The Deputy Inspector General (Operations) of Punjab Police informed the court that recently 50 cases had been registered after recovering of drugs from the educational institutions of Lahore only. He, however, avoided blaming the administration of any school for the recovery of drugs.
The CJP remarked that he had seen girls sniffing ice drugs in colleges, which was a question mark on the performance of authorities concerned.
Meanwhile, the Advocate General Sindh sought an adjournment of the case for submitting reply. To this, the CJP observed that whenever he (AG) appeared before the bench, he simply sought an adjournment. Later the court adjourned the case for 10 days.
