ECP disqualifies Karachi Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra

KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan has disqualified Karachi Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra.

The ECP announced its verdict in his disqualification case Wednesday. A three-member bench, headed by the chief election commissioner, heard the case.

Vohra left MQM-P to join the PSP while in office, due to which he has been disqualified. The petition to disqualify him was filed by MQM-P after he left the party last year.

He was elected a chairman of UC-49 in District Central.

At the last hearing, Vohra had argued that there is no party under the name of MQM-Pakistan registered with the Election Commission, therefore the petition should be dismissed.
