On the eve of Hollywood ceremony Homeland Security stops Oscar-nominated Syrian filmmaker from entering USA

WASHINGTON: Homeland Security here has barred 21-year-old Oscar Nominee Khaled Khatib from entering USA despite having a valid visa.

He was detained in Istanbul because the US Homeland Security had said they had derogatory information about him.

A photographer for the Syrian Civil Defense – called the White Helmets – Khaled Khatib has worked on Netflix film and was nominated for Oscar.  

The White Helmets  (that can win Best Documentary Sort at Academy Awards) is a forty-minute film about volunteer rescuers in Aleppo.
