Facebook team called on Minister for Human Rights Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Facebook team called on Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mizari aimed to increase cooperation with the Ministry to address Human Rights issues, particularly those related to Child Protection.

During the meeting the Minister said her ministry was going to initiate Child Awareness Programs in Islamabad to sensitize the Children, teachers and parents on different issues regarding Child Protection, said a statement issued here.

She said that Ministry’s helpline was working well along with the Prime Minister’s Citizens Portal.

Facebook members mentioned that online safety components are very important and their team was super focused to deal with Human Rights issues.

“Tools are available to curb online child exploitation as well”, they added.

They suggested that a policy conversation must be made by taking all stakeholders on board; to prevent online child abuse as Facebook had developed some tools to facilitate child protection.

It was told that there was a Portal available on Facebook for parents to have a check on their children’s activities.
