KARACHI: Date was 14th August and the venue was a secret quarter of the Metropolis from where Fakhr Alam (celebrity owner/founder of EzDaam.com a new online retail store) successfully structured the highest participated online music and shopping festival in the Pakistan’s internet history.
This online festival was the first of its kind and with very little marketing created the highest participated online event in Pakistan’s internet history.
The way it worked was people logged into Greenday.pk and went straight into a live music concert featuring some of the big music, tv and film stars of Pakistan. Each logged in user had to see the concert for 15mts before the big shopping discount deals could be unlocked. This was a 3 hours live online festival.
The project was a joint venture between EzDaam.com and Taazi Pakistan’s most downloaded music app founded by another celebrity Haroon Rashid. McDonald’s Pakistan was a digital partner of the GreenDay Festival.
There were LIVE unplugged performances that were live streamed from a secret location in Karachi. The venue had no audience to ensure online viewers felt as primary audience. Oldies Amir Saleem and Nadeem Jafri rendered their old classical pop hits while Saleem Javed unveiled his newest single done with legendary guitarist Amir Zaki.
Noman Javed belted host Bollywood hits in his sweet yet powerful voice. Abbas Ali Khan mesmerised with his sweet soulful hits from coke studios. Fuzon were the stars of the night with a very very entertaining and unique unplugged performance. All the musicians and other celebrities praised the idea of an online festival and look forward to returning next year.
Fakhr e Alam of EzDaam promises to bring a bigger and better event next year along with Haroon of Taazi.
The festival caused a huge stir within the ecommerce industry of Pakistan. The huge traffic to the website caused the servers to overheat and the techies at EzDaam and Taazi had to work very hard to keep the festival going for 3 hours with multiple service disruptions occurrences. Last year Pakistani websitedaraz.pk and homeshopping.pk had the black Friday sales that caused both websites to crash, indicating the huge appetite of Pakistani consumers for online sales.
The EzDaam.com GreenDay festival is a step forward from a traditional sales by marrying entertainment and sales online. EzDaam.com is now eyeing at scaling their operations up and are seeking funding to expand.
Pakistan’s ecommerce is growing fast with a forecast of the industry size to reach US$ 1 billion by 2020. It is great to see so many Pakistanis start up breaking new grounds in the field of ecommerce. EzDaam.com will soon unveil its 24 hours round the clock online super market and pharmacy.
